27 March to 8 April 2015
Animated Cartoon Workshop
For young people, aged 10 and up

During the Easter break, there will be an opportunity for young people to create their own animated cartoons. Films by Cologne artist Birgit Antoni at Kolumba will serve as initial stimuli. In the animated cartoon workshop, participants will be their own directors, camera team, and cutters. Short stories are to be developed by association. Using various materials such as paper, photos, or postcards, drawings, packaging, but also modeling clay, the necessary backdrops and figures will be constructed, and subsequently filmed using stop-motion animation techniques. The filmmakers will be supported by the media artists Parisa Karimi and Pauline Flory as well as the Verein HeimatlosGrenzenlos. For the practical work, we will be using rooms at the Neubrück Jugend- und Gemeinschaftszentrum ENBE.

8 April 2015, 12 to 5 p.m.
The films will be shown at the Kolumba "Cinema".

8 April 2015, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Discussion with the artists in the Reading Room
Added insights into the production of the films (for both events, regular admission fees apply)

The animated cartoon workshop has been made possible by the project "Kuturrucksack"from the State of NRW (North Rhine Westphalia).
