7 June, 2 and 4:30 p.m.
"Die Kammer der Andacht (The chamber of meditation)"
with table talk discussion from 6 to 7 p.m.

This year Kolumba is responding in various ways to Corpus Christi Day on 7 June. Over time, the altar decorated with flowers and set up in the vestibule of the museum has become a beautiful tradition along the route of the sacramental procession that has been taking place in Cologne since 1279. At 2 and 4:30 p.m., members of the "theaterderstille" will be putting on their musical performance "Die Kammer der Andacht" in Kolumba's excavation site. "Die Kammer der Andacht" is based on a text by the Flemish mystic and Carmelite monk Franciscus Amelry (ca. 1550). This conversation is about a soul who has fallen in love with God. Its companion, the wet nurse, shows the soul the path leading from love to the ecstasy of love and culminating in the unio mystica. A mystagogue makes us conscious of what happens with the soul who comes ever closer to God. With their attentiveness, which they understand as a prayer, the actors open up a space for meditation based neither on a dramaturgical concept nor on a director's idea. The day closes with a table talk discussion (6 to 7 p.m.), in which Elisabeth Hense (T.OCarm) also takes part, together with members of the "theaterderstille". Elisabeth Hense teaches spirituality at the Radbaoud University in Nijmegen and is the person who rediscovered the text by Franciscus Amelry and published it with a commentary.

Performers: Soul – Barbara Schachtner T.OCarm (soprano and harmonica); Wet nurse – Jörg Golletz (bass and French horn); Mystagoge – Ursula Albrecht T.OCarm (speaker)
