BREAKING NEWS. Who cares?
Liebfrauenschule Cologne in Kolumba
Every year Kolumba invites a partner school to take part in bringing various forms of cooperation to fruition. The aim is for the museum to be appreciated by the pupils for the duration of the collaboration as a lively location, where they can realize their own ideas. This year the Liebfrauenschule applied, a private secondary school in Cologne-Lindenthal, enjoying state recognition and supported by the Archbishopric. With the dedicated help of their teachers Kerstin Orlowski and Matthias Feltmann we are evolving projects and exhibition formats with these grammar school pupils in which they can be independently involved. The first event will take place in the week prior to Christmas. They will create a design on a more than 160 square meter building site fence surrounding scaffolding erected for the restoration of the museum wall in the Brückenstrasse. The artistic director is Allan Gretzki, a street artist of renown and tutor at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences (HMKW). The curatorial supervision of the Street Art Project is in the hands of Leonie Gehrke and Johannes Stahl.
From 6 to 8 July (12 am to 5 pm) numerous works by the pupils will be on show as BREAKING NEWS in the current annual exhibition Pas de Deux.
