A different view of art
European Restoration Day
This area of tension between aged material and the effect created by restoration will be illustrated using the example of the very different restoration histories of two works of art from the present and the Middle Ages. The paper cuts by Felix Droese, created in the early 1980s, and the altarpiece with the depiction of the Last Judgement, created around 1500 and attributed to the master of the Ursula legend, will be examined.
Kolumbaba's conservators Christina Nägler and Heike Bommes invite you to an open discussion in room 21 to look together at the resoration methods used here and their effect, as well as to think about possible alternatives. The talk will be in German.
