Schools as Guest

Richard Riemerschmid Berufskolleg

For the second time, the Richard-Riemerschmid-Berufskolleg and Kolumba are cooperating as part of the “Schools as Guests” series. The young people from the college in Cologne's Südstadt district respond to the works and themes of the current special exhibition, but also enrich it with their own aspects. The exhibition entitled “Ortswechsel” (Change of location) extends across all rooms of the museum. In addition to sound balls from the goldsmiths, lamps, chairs and toilet seats with special paintwork, foldable seats made from recycled truck tarpaulins, an origami activity to participate in, an altar with Cologne saints and idols from the 3D printer, a critical examination of some Cologne street names, sketchbooks were also created that can be continued with your own texts and drawings. Protected, dream and favorite places, but also surreal places can be experienced in image and sound. Two projects are dedicated to the increasingly pressing issue of homelessness in Cologne.

Opening: Saturday, February 4, 2023, 12 - 5 p.m.

As part of the vernissage, the students will be running a café in the reading room. On this day, music will be played in the foyer and interventions and activities will take place throughout the museum. Some of the objects can be purchased in the museum store.
