Museum in the Body
We always begin at the beginning. It is quite simple: What kind of welcome does the museum space offer me today? We calm down slowly, putting the day behind us. We become connected. And when we have finally arrived in the present, we open our eyes, ears and hearts. The adventure that is art begins. Every aesthetic experience involves the senses. It is an experience of resonance as never before, thoroughly individual, and the outcome is always novel. For it is always our whole personality that enters into a resonating engagement with the work of art: our bodies and breath, our expectations, patterns of thought and behaviour, but also simply what the day just gone past has brought. And every work of art has its own personality. In the best case, we make contact with one another – and have something to communicate. And we also encounter ourselves. And what is the result? We don’t know. That is the appeal of art encounters: they are unpredictable – an adventure. Hopefully also enjoyable and good fun. The Museum in the Body invites you to a sophisticated, but playful work meditation. Each time, the focus is on one work of art in the current exhibition, or a gallery in the museum. You do not need to have any prior experience of meditation. Chairs and yoga mats are available, and you can also bring your own cushions to sit on. There is underfloor heating. If you would like to listen in or continue to take part, you can find work meditations by Suzanne Josek here: Museum im Körper.
