2014 Vertigo of Reality
4 to 8 November 2014
"What am I doing here?" – A guest performance from the Rhineland Province. Kolumba as Guest at the Academy of Arts in Berlin
A guest performance is like packing your suitcase for a trip: You think about what you will most likely need, and you live from your suitcase. Responding to an invitation by the Academy of Arts in Berlin, Kolumba will be a guest for a week in the "Metabolic Office" of the exhibition "Vertigo of Reality". At the latest with the exhibition shown at the turn of the millennium, "On Reality", it had become obvious that the Art Museum of the Cologne Archdiocese wanted to provide art with space for reflections on the fundamentals of existence. The invitation to Berlin has resulted from the museum's connection to composer Manos Tsangaris since 1993, who has been director of the section for "Music" at the Academy of Arts in Berlin since 2012. The guest performance affords an opportunity to discuss this part of the museum's manifold formats and to introduce questions of its own in the exhibition. In doing this, Kolumba is bringing along works from its own collection in order to stage its own exhibition and include the audience in panel discussions, readings, and performances for a week in the framework of the "Vertigo of Reality". Our suitcase holds works by Kurt Benning, Thomas Böing, Felix Droese, Olaf Eggers, and Thomas Rentmeister. Visit us in Berlin!
Akademie der Künste, Hanseatenweg 10, 10557 Berlin, Tuesday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. To get there: S-Bhf. Bellevue, U-Bhf. Hansaplatz, Bus 106 www.schwindelderwirklichkeit.de
